Editorial Services

Over the course of my career, I have edited, indexed, and proofread hundreds of books, for a diversity of publishers in a variety of subjects, from American History and Pop Culture to Religion and Philosophy to Military and Security Studies and even Biology and Poetry. I have handled projects from inception through the bound-book stage and am expert at all aspects of the book process.

Through the years, I have had the good fortune to work with many good authors: scholars, educators, historians, poets, storytellers, ministers, psychologists, scientists, and more.

Indeed, I have been lucky to work with authors who are best-sellers in their fields, such as Edward L. "Ned" Beach Jr., Mitch Finley, Norman Friedman, Yogi Kaufman, Bridget Mary Meehan, Luane Roche, Albert W. A. Schmid, Paul Stillwell, Craig L. Symonds, and George C. Wilson.

From each, best-selling and budding authors alike, I have learned much about his or her particular area of expertise. As an author myself, I am extremely sensitive to how writers feel about their own work , and I treat each manuscript, each author, with humility, respect, understanding, and good will. My hope is that I will be able to help you polish your work and make it the best that it can be.

I look forward to helping you bring your words and ideas to publication.

Endorsements:

"This book owes so much to Anthony Chiffolo, a dear man of many talents. Anthony is a multimedia phenom. He's a brilliant photographer. He writes prayer books. And he gently and generously forgives my clumsiness with the English language (although he did once remind me that he 'edited a pope' and that I might be well advised not to mess with him). Anthony's enthusiasm was essential to this 'labor of love.'"
--William O'Shaughnessy, author of Mario Cuomo: Remembrances of a Remarkable Man

"How pleased I have been with the work Anthony has done in moving the manuscript through the editing process. It is now unquestionably better than when I handed it in because of the way Anthony handled it. He caught the obvious typos and minor glitches, made the language clearer and more concise where needed, and stimulated me to explain and verify things. In many cases in the text I unconsciously lapsed into passive voice. He improved the construction in a lot of those sentences. I should also make the point that he did his improvements without destroying my basic writing style. Some editors are so heavy-handed that they want to rewrite manuscripts to sound as if they had written them. Anthony refrained from that approach. ... Finally, he doggedly slogged his way through the footnotes and bibliography to make sure that everything matched up. That's a part of the task I really dislike doing, so I am thankful that he went at it so diligently."
--Paul Stillwell, Battleship Arizona: An Illustrated History

"I have absolutely loved working with you and I have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship. I attribute much of the success of our first book solely to you, as you did a phenomenal job of editing while also providing excellent ideas which made a big difference."
--Kevin Wright, Catholic Shrines of Western Europe: A Pilgrim's Travel Guide

"Thank you for a great editing job. Because of your efforts the book will be more readable, smoother, clearer, and generally more friendly."
--Richard Johnson, The 12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality: Powerful Lessons on Living Agelessly

"Mr. Chiffolo's experience in planning, execution, and his conscientious eye for detail sustained my project through to ends that I and all involved in the project were very proud of."
--Scott Hightower, Tin Can Tourist: Poems

"Thanks to my editor, Anthony Chiffolo, for patient, constructive, and most of all, sensitive criticism and editing of the finished work."
--Ron Zaczek, Farewell, Darkness: A Veteran's Triumph over Combat Trauma

"Finally, we want to single out the efforts of our editor, Anthony Chiffolo, who successfully submerged his aviator's wings for a short time in producing our account of steel sharks!"
--Yogi Kaufman and Paul Stillwell, Sharks of Steel

"We thank Anthony Chiffolo for making this book more readable and more accessible to a general audience."
--Jordi Agustí and Mauricio Antón, Mammoths, Sabertooths, and Hominids: 65 Million Years of Mammalian Evolution in Europe

"Anthony Chiffolo is one of the finest, most professional editors with whom I have had the pleasure of working. ... Anthony has a remarkable talent for developing long-lasting relationships with authors, working closely with them through all the stages of publication. ... His professional and diplomatic treatment of even the most difficult of authors enhances the company's reputation in the publishing arena."
--Rev. Thomas M. Santa, CSSR, former President/Publisher, Liguori Publications

"I want you to know how much I appreciate your outstanding work in bringing World Naval Weapons Systems to fruition. It is a long and complex book, and it had a tight schedule. I know you had to put in a lot of extra effort to keep things on track, and you brought it through in a most professional way. Well done!"
--James Alden Barber, Jr., Captain, U.S. Navy (Ret.), former Executive Director, U.S. Naval Institute
